- For an Android device, back up your data, then erase the device to return it to factory settings.
Suspend cellular service
- If your iPhone or Android device uses a physical SIM card, remove it.
- If your iPhone or Android device uses eSIM, contact your wireless provider to suspend service.
- If you’re trading in a cellular Apple Watch, remove the active cellular plan .

- If your iPad uses a physical SIM card,
- If your iPad uses eSIM you may have transferred your eSIM using eSIM Quick Transfer during the setup of your new iPad. If not, contact your wireless provider to transfer the eSIM to the new device or suspend service if needed.
